Our Brenna, soon to be 16, has just come back from a year abroad – in Denmark – with her family. Liz Reinhardt is currently reading. Like I said before, one of the best things about this novel is that both of the guys are flawed. I don’t believe that there’s a demarcation. It will be interesting to see whether this strong tension can be sustained over the course of two additional books without labouring the triangle into torturously back-and-forth territory.

Thanx so much for gifting me a copy on amazon! I love On the Jellicoe Road, it is one of my favourite books! What happens when you fall in love with the perfect guy But Saxon is a proud player who makes it clear that he doesn’t know why he can’t get Brenna off of his mind and out of his system, and Jake’s sweet and humble attitude hides a secret past life that might be darker and more complex than Brenna is willing to deal with.
A I have to say that I was pretty much surprised when Liz asked me to read her book.
Write your own comment on this book! Double Clutch has been added to my top reads for this year and I am now waiting to get my hands on the sequel Junk Miles. This is written for Older YA, and I could see why! Between keeping reinhartd peace with her lovingly over-protective parents, designing t-shirts for her high school’s rising punk band, keeping up her grades in classes split between academic and technical high school, and running the track like a maniac, Brenna has enough to worry about without juggling two guys who make her heart thud and drive her crazy all at once.
This is no simpering, run-of-the-mill love triangle. I want to get my hands on Junk Miles now: Pick this up right now! I doubble embarrassingly because I seem to recall myself some centuries ago.
