But this is a thing which it is impossible to do. One may, however, learn to understand them by knowledge and the prophetic power combined. When the heart is free from worldly lusts, from the animosities of society and from the distraction occasioned by the senses, the vision of God is possible. The four fingers have three joints each, and the thumb has but two, that when contracted they may become like the bowl of a spoon or ladle, and that when open they may become like a plate, and so discharge an infinity of services. In the same manner the heart which does not feel a necessity for the knowledge and love of God, and where the love of other objects reigns, is a heart that is sick and ready to perish, unless a remedy be applied, unless its affections be turned away from other things, and the love of God happiness predominant.
The sovereign needs the service of all the inhabitants.
If the sovereign, the heart, should invariably consult with reason, his vizier, and, when desire was transgressing, should give to wrath to have power over him yet, without giving him full liberty, should make him angry in subjection to reason, the vizier, so that passing all bounds he should not stretch out his hand upon the kingdomthere would then be an lachemy in the condition of the kingdom, and all the members would perform the functions for which they were created, their service would be accepted at the mercy seat, and they would obtain eternal felicity….
Perhaps this is his greatest ability to qoute from revered sources rather than imposing his own thoughts, even if he might have a bias. In addition to these instruments, there was need of means to guide in their occasional use, that is, for the internal senses.
However, his overly-cautious agnosticism when it comes to happuness and oth His talent lies in making illuminating analogies for spiritual and ethical points, and hence makes a great teacher. The poor guest is overjoyed at the sight of these things, thinking that they have been made his own property, and belays hold of them with the intention of retaining them.

Being, therefore, liable to decay, it is in continual danger of perishing from the external and internal enemies that perpetually assail it. For they embrace the whole kingdom of the universe with its deputies and servants, and hapiness the knowledge of the end for which everything was created: Only religion can do so, where it constantly reminds us that the truth is found inside of us. Think not, that they are lazy or sleeping.
In that state the heart sees most wonderful forms and combinations. They say, that a resurrection, in which spirits and bodies shall be reassembled in one place, is impossible, and that there will be neither discipline or punishment, recompense or reward. We have to stop deluding ourselves with the attachment of this world.
But in the same manner, alxhemy independence and freedom is possible in your soul. All that is good, noble and sublime, which his great soul had compassed, he bestowed upon Mohammedanism; and he adorned the doctrines of the Koran with so much piety and learning, that, in the form given them by him, they seem in my opinion worthy the assent of Christians.
Know then, beloved, that the varieties of food you eat descend to the stomach, and thence to the liver, and that in the liver they are mixed and brought to the form of blood.
